Out of nowhere, Intuition received a call today from Shane Coburn. “I am heading back to LA, but the 5 South over the Grapevine is closed.” The bad winter storm left one alternate route home which took him right through Bakersfield. Coincidence or fate? You decide.

Shane Coburn – Xsjado creator – Visits Intuition Skate Shop

So, on a day where ice literally fell from the sky in the form of hail, The Ice Man himself paid his first ever visit to Intuition Skate Shop. Shane Coburn is without a doubt one of the most mysterious and misunderstood pillars of the global rollerblading industry. Shane is the creator of several of the most influential brands in rollerblading history: Medium, Mindgame, and most recently Xsjado.

But above all else, Shane Coburn is known for writing the script and casting me for the ‘Clown’ roll in the Mindgame ‘BANG!’ video of 2004.

Shane was not too short on words, as we visited for a while, talking about the past nine years or so we have known each other. As far as what he is up to these days, he informed me that there are exciting things to be expected from Xsjado this year, possibly including a new amateur rider as well as a brand new pro model skate. He even hinted at new advances in hardware. Could this mean an all new skate from Xsjado?

One thing is for sure, and this is a direct quote from Shane Coburn today,”I believe in rollerblading.”
